Holy Spirit Advantage
My friend John Gardener recently challenged me with this simple reality –
Christians have a Holy Spirit Advantage!
Whether you are a leading in a church, a non-profit organization, a school, or a business, we have Holy Spirit dwelling in us! This is an amazing advantage as we live out our purpose.
Fruitfulness matters to God. Certainly not the fruit that you and I try to produce on our own – that amounts to nothing. The fruit that comes from abiding in the Vine is lasting fruit.
Jesus says in John 15:4- 5, “Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
What a powerful union – you abiding in Jesus and Jesus abiding in you.
This is our Holy Spirit Advantage. Holy Spirit abiding in us!
- It is His power that transforms lives.
- It is His hope that we offer.
- It is His fruit that we bear.
- It is His life that we give.
Reflection questions (discuss with your team):
- What does it look like in my life when I am relying on Holy Spirit? What does it look like when I don’t rely on Holy Spirit?
- How am I inviting those around me to rely daily on Holy Spirit?
- How am I keeping Holy Spirit central to my work? My ministry?
- How will I train and coach my team to be Holy Spirit dependent?
Every morning I affirm – “I live in desperate, daily dependence on God.”
I am nothing without this Holy Spirit advantage! Let’s rely fully on Him.
